Our Story
I clearly remember one of the first things I told her at the beginning of our story: "it won't be easy, indeed, it might also be very complicated ..." referring primarily to my private situation, separated for more than a year and with a son to whom I wanted to give all my attention and time. On top of that, I was also feeling a lack of confidence in starting a new serious relationship, especially with someone I knew, with someone I had had the opportunity to appreciate as a colleague and whom I didn't want to hurt al all.
Her answer has been the one I have heard again lots of times in the last years, an answer always replied with the same determination and fierceness: "Never mind, we will face everything together and we will sort it out, I'm sure!”.
This is the way our history saw the light, slowly and without pushing it too hard. Trying, first of all, to better know each other, our personal life, our past and our thoughts for the future.
You are probably wondering who among the two of us took the lead in starting our story. Well, for the joy and the pride of the women's world, she did it, the future bride took the lead.
She knew that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and she did it that way. She invited me to a dinner to celebrate her promotion and career jump, leaving the offices where we had had the opportunity to better know each other and where we had built common cross trust as colleagues.
And, of course, she brought me in a restaurant serving Puglia food, her origin land she sometimes talked to me about during a work break or a pause.
This has been our first time out together, an evening in which we talked about our past experiences, we laughed and we listenend to each other. At the end of the evening we promised to repeat it soon and we both went back to our respective homes with the same thought and the same doubt in our minds: “Nice evening, could it be that…”.
The second evening together come was following week. We went to see a movie in a multiplex cinema in Milan and then we had a quick dinner in a restaurant in the Navigli area. The second evening confirmed all the sensations we had the week before. I realized it when we were walking back to the car after the restaurant and while we were joking on the plate of a parked car, I turned toward her, I saw her laughing with the dimples in her cheeks and with bright shining eyes and I said to myself “my dear Claudio, you’re done".
This is what happened to me and the same for her. After that evening we started our relationship and started considering ourselves a couple.
It took a bit of time for us before opening ourselves to the world, the time necessary to know us better and to ensure we were really able to overcome and solve the difficulties we could face during our torturous future.
As soon as we felt confident and strong enough we opened ourselves to the world, to our friends, to our sisters, son, parents and relatives.
One step after another, without hurry, building our history "with one foot in the past, and the glance straight ahead and opened in the future" as the Italian singer Bartoli wrote in his own song "A muso duro." As to properly build our dream we could not ignore what we proudly were in our past.
What arrived next, is recent history. Step after step we arrived to a sunny sunday of june, it was the 15th of June 2014, and a lot of friends were in the same room for the birthday surprise party of the person who today is the future bridegroom. During that magic day, in front of more than 70 friends, I, Claudio, asked Maria to marry me.
Somebody would say that the very first time I didn't ask and I was a bit too much direct in my engagement proposal, but then I used the right formula. In the section aside you can see two videos taken that day.
They are all in Italian, but I'm sure you will get the smell and the feeling of the excitement and of the emotion that there was in the air.
The next step is something we’ll do together with you to realize our dream. The 1st of June 2015 we will get married and it will be the beginning of another new dream for us in which we want all of you to be part of.
